For this series I wanted a fresh approach to painting the hackneyed flower. I oversized the flowers for the space and intentionally cropped them so they would break out of the picture plane.

Using vivid colors and layers of glazing I treated them more as sculptural and abstract elements, taking them to another realm beyond pretty yet mundane flowers.
